Trailer for Upcoming Film ‘Roofied’ Released
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A new extended trailer for the film “Roofied,” currently being filmed in the Youngstown region, has been unveiled. Set to premiere in mid-2025, the film will be showcased at several film festivals across Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, and other states, as stated by David Sollberger, a representative from the production company, Sane Productions. The narrative focuses on critical social issues such as human trafficking and substance abuse, aiming to raise public awareness through various events, including a gala on May 3 at Collingwood Center in Campbell. Attendees at the gala will have the chance to win a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro through a raffle, with tickets available for purchase at the event. Local filmmaker Josh Hones is at the helm as director and screenwriter for “Roofied.” The cast features a diverse ensemble, including Michael Munson, Charli St. Joan, Ronald Shields, and many others.
Westminster College Fundraiser for Wildfire Relief
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Westminster College is set to host “Shoot for a Cause,” a fundraising event aimed at supporting victims of the California wildfires on Saturday, February 15, during the men’s and women’s basketball games at Memorial Field House. Community members and students are encouraged to showcase their basketball abilities during breaks in the games, with the women’s match starting at 1 p.m. and the men’s at 3 p.m., both featuring matchups against Franciscan University. Shot attempts will be priced at $1 for children under 10, $2 for high school and college students, and $5 for adults. Participants will receive a complimentary T-shirt while supplies last, and additional activities such as face painting and candy grams will be offered for donations. All proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross for wildfire relief efforts, a cause that emerged from discussions among Westminster student leaders, particularly given that the college has 12 students from California.

This free event will delve into the significant changes and advancements that characterized the 1920s, a period during which Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley established themselves as pivotal hubs for industry, commerce, and entertainment. West African Dance Performance at Penn State Shenango
SHARON, Pa. – The Balafon West African Dance Ensemble is scheduled to perform at Penn State Shenango on Wednesday, February 19, at 12:15 p.m. This free one-hour event will take place in the Shenango Auditorium, located at 147 Shenango Ave., on the downtown campus. The Pittsburgh-based group collaborates with local artists, dancers, and musicians to create programs that celebrate African dance and culture. The upcoming performance will feature live music and dance, offering an authentic glimpse into the classical arts of Guinea and other West African regions. The ensemble’s name is inspired by the balafon, an ancient West African percussion instrument, which is a precursor to the modern xylophone. Ample parking is available for guests attending the performance.
