Town Star Play-to-Earn (p2e) Economic Update July 2022: Gala Games TOWN Coin Distribution Paused For The Web3 NFT Town Builder Simulation Game.

1 min read

Gala Games Flag Ship web3 Play-to-Earn (p2e) NFT town builder simulation game Town Star will temporarily halt distribution of TOWN coin on July 19th in order to undergo major economic upgrades. In this article we will discuss what the Economic updates are for Town Star by Gala Games.

Town Star’s Economic Updates

Despite winning the Best Blockchain Game of the Year award, Web3’s flagship town builder still has much room for improvement and growth. Town Star is one of the very first and most rewarding play-to-earn games out there, which we have all been fortunate enough to witness.

In order to take Town Star to its next evolution as the world’s greatest Web3 sim game, Gala Games are preparing for some significant upgrades and improvements to be made. Based on community feedback, they have determined that now is the right time to begin making these large and necessary updates.

There will be a temporary halt to TOWN coin distributions to players and node operators starting July 19th.

During this temporary TOWN coin pause, the Gala games Town Star team will work on enhancing the in-game economy, making tech improvements, as well as adding new features. The Discord community has discussed this at length in #townstar_discussions.

Town Star players and the TOWN economy benefit greatly from this change. Even though some may find it unexpected, it is actually beneficial for the game. As a result of this change, Gala Games have doubled the size of the Town Star team. In addition, they have hired a seasoned industry expert, Mark Skaggs [WIKIPEDIA LINK], as the SVP of Games at Gala Games. Furthermore, they are in the midst of switching from the client-side authoritative PlayCanvas engine to the server-side authoritative Godot engine (an instrumental component to preventing cheats, scripts, and hacks).

As a company, they are heavily investing in Town Star, and they hope to see it become the first Web3 game that achieves mass adoption on a large scale. While temporarily painful, this step is necessary for achieving that goal.

Daily challenges and competitions will continue, but as new systems are tested and added, changes should be expected. During this period, Town Points earned will not result in any TOWN coin distribution and may be erased at the end of the day. Town Star Node operators are under no obligation to continue to operate them, but you should know that we may later retroactively reward them (though not in TOWN).

This is a big project and the Town Star team is confident that this pause will allow us to evolve the in-game economy, adding more fun features, and upgrade their game engine, so Town Star players can look forward to an amazing future.
